Not too far east of Worcester in the town of Shrewsbury you'll find Ski Ward, a small area with something for everyone. Ski Ward offers night skiing, always a plus for those with a busy schedule who still want a few hours on the snow. The hill boasts a big tubing operation with a dedicated lift, a teaching terrain garden, and four other lifts including a triple chair. There's also a mogul field for those who want a little more challenge and a terrain park with a quarterpipe A nice feature at Ski Ward is a race facility that includes dual TAG-Heuer timing and start and finish shacks. The Ski Ward Race Team puts the facility to good use, and has won Eastern Mass. Buddy Werner League top honors for the past several years, including 2004. Ski Ward is also home to the Central Mass. Conference Ski League. Several race programs are available for entry and mid-level racers. Terrain For those who simply want to learn how to ski or ride or to improve their skills, a snow school with more than 100 instructors offers private and group lessons and lesson packages. Ski Ward also offers holiday vacation camps. A busy base lodge with full cafeteria services, rentals, and first aid can be found near the bottom of the double chair. Of course Ski Ward has up-to-date snowmaking and grooming capabilities. Ski Ward now offers ski-and-stay packages with a motel just across the street from the slopes. Nearby Worcester offers plenty of diversions in the form of food, entertainment, and shopping.
