The Lecht ski resort was one of the newest Scottish ski areas to open, as recently as the 1977/78 season. Located in the north eastern Cairngorms, it is the closest ski area for Aberdeen skiers to visit. Over the years The Lecht ski area has proved itself to be one of the most versatile Scottish ski resorts, opening as early as October 31st for Halloween skiing.
The Lecht ski centre has kept growing over the decades adding its first chair lift for the 1999-2000 season and then for the 2004-5 season a superb new day lodge was built at a cost of £1m on three levels with The Lecht ski rentals on the ground floor, a snack bar at mid-level and offices on the third level and providing superb views over the surrounding area.
The Lecht ski accommodation does not exist and the nearest hotel is in village at Tomintoul, ten minutes drive away. The nearest ski areas are Cairngorm ski resort and Glenshee ski area with the Lecht ski resort an easy day trip from either.
